In its first edition, Écotech Québec's interactive map presents innovative companies and Quebec research organisations specialized in clean technologies. Equipped with a search engine, the map allows you to navigate by category (air, energy, water, residual materials and land) or by region.
In order to create this map, Écotech Québec used a compilation from the Ministère du Développement Économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation (MDEIE) of about a thousand environmental companies, many of which (approximately 1,300 companies) were also present in the Icriq data base (Environnement du Centre de recherche industrielle du Québec (CRIQ).
Thus, Écotech Québec selected about 400 companies that carry out innovative activities and possess knowledge or intellectual property in the clean technologies sector to be listed on the map, but also in Icriq Clean Technologies, a directory devoted to clean technologies created by the CRIQ following a request by Écotech Québec.
This is an on-going process. If you think your company or research center should appear on the map, please email us at info@ecotechquebec.com.
Clean technologies come under the heading of sustainable development because they include new technologies, products, processes and services that:
Québec’s clean technology ecosystem encompasses approximately 1,000 players, including producers of clean technologies (small, medium and large companies, start-ups), users (domestic, industrial, governmental), research facilities (universities, research enhancement corporations, transfer offices, public research centres), professional services (firms, consultants), institutions that train new talent, governments, and various associations.
Many economic sectors benefit from cleantech solutions, including mining, manufacturing, forestry, energy, agriculture, petrochemicals, construction and transport as well as municipal services.
In other words, cleantech has a significant impact on the overall economy of Québec.
Écotech Québec is actively establishing a portrait of Québec's clean technology ecosystem. Included among the main players of this ecosystem are producers of clean technologies (small, medium and large companies, start-ups), users (domestic, industrial, governmental), research facilities (universities, research enhancement corporations, transfer offices, public research centres), professional services (firms, consultants), institutions that train new talent, governments, and various associations.
Information and data collected on companies, research, intellectual property or the financing chain will provide a unique reference for comparison purposes of the ecosystem represented by Écotech Québec. The resulting portrait was revealed at the 2nd Clean Technologies Forum in November 2010.
