Working groups, composed of Écotech Québec members and other specialists in the field, are searching for solutions to the issues identified during the public consultations and are preparing concerted courses of action.
These work groups aim to optimize interventions within the ecosystem to create the most favourable conditions for the development and commercialization of clean technologies.
The following working groups on priority themes have been launched in December 2010:
The regulatory and taxation framework are recognized as catalysts that encourage investment in cleantech innovation. It is vital to create an environment that encourages companies to innovate, invest and grow in Québec.
How to manage risk plays a determining role in the growth of a business, in the choice of business objectives and the ability to obtain financing. The development of a business is threatened if it does not have an adequate financial structure, a partnership with an industrial enterprise and sufficient support in the critical stages of innovation and commercialization.
The industry must develop a brand image nationally and internationally. It must then develop a targeted communications campaign in order to build a reputation in Québec and North America, as well as a presence on the world stage. One has to be seen and known before being recognized.
The following three work projects will start at a later date:
To survive and prosper, companies must grow in markets that are expanding rapidly; they must be profitable while continuing to invest in new products and processes. Innovation is at the heart of the development and rapid evolution of the cleantech sector.
In Québec, a large share of the economic growth comes from international markets. It is therefore essential to encourage entrepreneurs to build up their expertise, enter new markets and develop networks on an international level.
Success depends not just on the right tools but also the right skills. It is therefore essential to promote manpower training and support entrepreneurship, business development and the creation of new companies in cleantech.
